The House of Brides began as a small family owned salon in Cicero Illinois, a suburb on the outskirts of downtown Chicago. It's doors opened in 1929, when due to the great depression, most businesses were forced to close. This tiny shop not only pioneered the Chicago bridal market, it became the role model for future bridal retailers.

In 1929 the bridal business as we know it today had yet to come into it's own. Our owner, under the tutelage of celebrated designers, had been trained in Europe as a Couturier and with the opening other salon, she was able to share 'her extraordinary talent and exquisite attention to detail, by designing and making beautiful wedding fashions for young engaged ladies as well as their attendants.

As the years passed, the business flourished. With the "birth" of ready to wear bridal fashions, clothing manufacturers were turning their attention to producing collections of bridal wear and accessories. To meet the demand us the increase of the business, a select line of wedding gowns were brought in. The "store bought" wedding fashions were an instant hit! It soon became apparent that a move to larger quarters was in order, to afford us the opportunity to expand the ready to wear collections. In 1956 the business moved to Berwyn, Illinois.

Under ardent leadership keen business acumen and superb customer service, the House of Brides has established itself to be number one in a very important retail market, The company has moved forward to it's current impressive status of five full service bridal salons, to include the worlds largest bridal store and wedding mall in Schaumburg, Illinois. Our magnificent Couture Salon, located on Michigan Avenue, features collections from Paris, Spain, Milan as well as this countries most celebrated designers.

Each of our salons feature thousands of fabulous "In Stock" collections of both bridal and bridesmaids fashions that can be purchased and taken home today! In addition you will find all the leading bridal fashions as seen in the bridal magazines available for your special order. The House of Brides salons also showcase a complete line of accessories, gifts and jewelry.
